Recreation

Located on the shores of pristine Swan Lake and cradled by the Swan Range to the east and the Mission Mountains to the west, Kootenai Lodge offers the best of two worlds.

Just ten minutes from the resort community of Bigfork - which lauds gourmet restaurants, a summer playhouse and a colony of artists - it is also less than an hour from Glacier National Park, millions of acres of wilderness and Glacier International Airport. Blacktail Mountain Ski Area and Big Mountain Ski Area are just an hour away, each offering miles of trails and breathtaking views of the great Rockies.

Summer activities found right at the doorstep of the lodge include fishing, swimming, water-skiing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, tennis and evening campfires.

Water-skiing is one sport enjoyed on local lakes.

Hiking opportunities abound with the proximity of the majestic Glacier Park and hundreds of miles of Forest Service maintained trails in the Swan Valley.

Hiking with Great Northern Llama Company

You don't have to leave the property in the winter for outdoor fun. When Mother Nature cooperates, you can skate on Swan Lake in the bay of Kootenai Lodge, or slip on snowshoes or cross country skis and take a moonlight cruise to the barn.

Whether you're looking for a splash of local color and culture, the exhilaration of a outdoor adventure, or the serenity of the wilderness, Kootenai Lodge offers all of these soul-searching and soul-finding experiences.
