Main Lodge

This magnificent building was designed by architect Kirtland Cutter who also designed Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier Park and the Conrad Mansion in Kalispell. The log building is finished with unpeeled cedar timbers which provide a striking contrast to the smooth, reddish, hand-peeled larch logs.

The great room houses a 1903 Steinway grand piano, original wicker furniture and trophy heads acquired during Con Kelley's hunting conquests. Behind the main building is a u-shaped six-bedroom wing that wraps around a courtyard. One of the bedrooms is now a library, containing hundreds of books collected by the Kelley and Evans families.

The courtyard originally had a fountain, flowers and Virginia Creeper which is making a comeback in this charming sitting area. Etchings by Western artist Charles Russell are scattered throughout the cement courtyard.
